Chloride binding in Portland composite cements containing metakaolin and silica fume

چکیده

This paper investigates how the composition of Portland composite cements affects their chloride-binding properties. Hydrated cement pastes prepared with a reference and containing metakaolin and/or silica fume were exposed to NaCl or CaCl2 solutions. Chloride-binding isotherms determined hydrate assemblage was investigated using TGA, XRD, 27Al NMR, 29Si NMR thermodynamic modelling. Compared paste, replacement did not alter capacity. The resulted in highest When combining metakaolin, chloride binding is similar cement. In this study differences linked only changes AFm content, but also alterations Al-uptake chain length C(-A)-S-H.

Gel/Space Ratio Evolution in Ternary Composite System Consisting of Portland Cement, Silica Fume, and Fly Ash

In cement-based pastes, the relationship between the complex phase assemblage and mechanical properties is usually described by the "gel/space ratio" descriptor. The gel/space ratio is defined as the volume ratio of the gel to the available space in the composite system, and it has been widely studied in the cement unary system. This work determines the gel/space ratio in the cement-silica fume...

A study of Metakaolin and Silica Fume used in various Cement Concrete Designs

In the present study, effect of pozzolanic material (Metakaolin and Silica fume) is studied through compressive and Flexural strength in cement concrete. Metakaolin and silica fume area used as cement replacement materials at 5%, 10% and 15% by mass keeping water–cement ratio as 0.42 Compressive and Flexural strength were observed after 7 and 28 days of curing. Silica fume is a by products resu...

Influence of Silica Fume on Chloride Resistance of Concrete

A series of concrete slabs were cast with 0, 7, and 12% by mass silica fume replacement of cement at W/CM = 0.35, 0.40, and 0.45. After either moist or steam curing, a variety of chloride resistance tests were performed. These included AASHTO T259, modified T259, T277, as well as several bulk diffusion tests and sorptivity tests. Results indicate that the use of properly dispersed silica fume r...

Calculation of Compounds in Portland Cements

The National Bureau of Standards–National Institutes of Standards and Technology has had an illustrious history of research on the most widely-used, man-made materials of construction, cement and concrete—materials which are often taken for granted, because of their commodity nature and generally successful use in the structures that comprise about 80 % of the Nation’s fixed wealth. The level o...
